Rotorua is situated on the shore of a lake with the same name, and is within an active geothermal zone in the east central portion of the north island. When the wind is blowing off the lake the smell is sort of a rotten egg-sulfur smell, which, strangely enough, you almost get used to.
While in Rotorua, we were able to explore and learn more about the Mauri culture and way of living.
