Dale as the Great Ziegfield in the Whittier Choralaires show, “Now That’s Vaudeville!”

Dale and the love of his life, Betty
Every visit was a jam session and although Dale never learned to play an instrument he loved to sing along and harmonize. In his senior year he formed a quartet with himself as tenor, his brother Don as bass and his neighbor as lead and another school chum as baritone. The first song they learned was “Coney Island Baby” and he still sings it. (It’s the same arrangement that is used today)
The Navy and raising a family filled the next 30 years with no singing. A very long dry spell. Then one day he chanced to hear the Whittier Choralaires singing at the Whittwood Mall and the hook was set. He went to the chapter meeting the next week and hasn’t strayed from singing Barbershop Harmony since.
Dale was raised in a small town called Cashmere, Washington. His parents played for local dances and Dale says he never saw visitors at their home without instruments.
